Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SPM (Special Purpose Machine) Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the automobile, machinery, and automation industries, with a proven track record of designing and developing complex mechanical systems. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and automation technologies.
Responsibilities:
Design and Development
- Conceptualize and design custom SPM solutions for automation and manufacturing processes, specifically within the automotive and machinery sectors.
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Perform design calculations, stress analysis, and simulations to ensure design integrity and performance.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Design pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems for automated machinery.
Manufacturing and Implementation
- Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Provide technical support during the assembly, testing, and commissioning of SPM systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Participate in on-site installations and provide technical assistance.
Project Management and Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors.
- Work with electrical and controls engineers to ensure proper system integration.
Industry Expertise
- Apply knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, machinery design, and automation technologies.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in SPM design and automation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5-6 years of experience in mechanical design within the automobile, machinery, and automation industries.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of automation technologies and robotics.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
- Experience with motion control systems.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, automotive standards).
