Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SPM (Special Purpose Machine) Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the automobile, machinery, and automation industries, with a proven track record of designing and developing complex mechanical systems. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and automation technologies.

Responsibilities:

Design and Development
  • Conceptualize and design custom SPM solutions for automation and manufacturing processes, specifically within the automotive and machinery sectors.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Perform design calculations, stress analysis, and simulations to ensure design integrity and performance.
  • Select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems for automated machinery.
Manufacturing and Implementation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
  • Provide technical support during the assembly, testing, and commissioning of SPM systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues.
  • Participate in on-site installations and provide technical assistance.
Project Management and Collaboration
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors.
  • Work with electrical and controls engineers to ensure proper system integration.
Industry Expertise
  • Apply knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, machinery design, and automation technologies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in SPM design and automation.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-6 years of experience in mechanical design within the automobile, machinery, and automation industries.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies and robotics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
  • Experience with motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, automotive standards).
